My Public Personal Mini Library

Rack 1, Shelf 3

Intro

I studied computer science at Technical University Braunschweig from 1982 til 1994, then I worked there as research assistent.

I believe a university's best ressource for its students and its biggest asset is the library. I fondly remember its many books, in particular the esoteric ones which would never survive on the commercial book market. Many thanks to Volkswagen Stiftung for funding the TUBS library, by the way

The computer science department used to have its own library. This was badly enough managed and dropped altogether when all CS departments relocated into a spanking new building just recently in 2001. What a shame.

Another shame is the decline the major local bookstore in this city to offer a decent selection of scientific CS literature. What used to "Computer Science" in the early 80ies turned mostly into a multitude of rows filled with Personal Computing garbage.

If you happen to be a CS student around town and cannot get what you need at the TUBS library, you are welcome to borrow the following literature from my bookshelf.

Scientific Periodicals

Mostly starting from 1992-2001 and completely available throughout

Conference proceedings 1992-2001: ASPLOS, POPL, PDLI, PPoPP, OOPSLA, ICFP, and all the more obscure stuff covered by SIGPLAN or SIGSOFT.

I almost completely switched over from paper to ACM's Digital Library in 2001. The physical shelf therefore stops with that year.

Monographs

It will take some time to compile this list. Expect most titles in the "compiler construction", "langauges", and "operating systems" department.
